2023 Bargaining Update
As previously communicated, our notice to bargain was issued in March as per the requirements under the Canada Labour Code. This has started the process to bargain a new collective agreement in the coming months.
The Bargaining Committee met in April 2023 to process and finalize the bargaining proposal submissions sent to the committee. We now have our strategy as we move forward into our first round of bargaining. A special thank you to the bargaining team for your time, effort, and dedication during this process.
I will be meeting with Nav Canada later in this month to exchange bargaining proposals created by the Bargaining Team with our first round of bargaining scheduled for the last week of June. I look forward to open and productive discussions between our Bargaining Team and Nav Canada as we work to get the best possible deal for the CANSA membership.
As bargaining is confidential, I cannot release the details of our proposals as our strategy may change from time to time. As we move through the bargaining process, I will provide updates on our bargaining progress via these ATT-Info’s bulletins.
NCJC Medical and Dental Benefits Input Notice
Your medical and dental benefits are bargained for you by the Nav Canada Joint Council (NCJC), a committee comprised of representatives from the Nav Canada Bargaining Agents Association (NCBAA) and Nav Canada. It is once again time for both parties to commence discussions on the medical and dental benefits through the benefit review process The NCJC are looking for submissions from the members on things they would like to see covered that are not currently. These would include drugs or procedures that are not covered that they would like to see covered, higher maximums for certain medical issues, lower deductibles on medicines, etc. Please provide specifics on the drug or procedure and why you would like to see it covered. Examples of increases in the past include Constant Glucose Monitors. These were not covered at one point and now have some coverage.
Submit all requests to your local Regional Vice President by June 16, 2023, and they will collect them all into one document to pass onto me. I will then submit these requests forward to the NCJC on behalf of CANSA.
In Solidarity,
James Walker
