Year in Review
The end of this month will mark one complete year without a collective agreement for CANSA. We went to the bargaining table with an open and honest approach to bargaining and it became evident quickly that this was not being reciprocated. We have maintained our position at the table and have let Nav Canada know we would not accept less than our true value.
As we reach this one-year milestone, it is important to show Nav Canada that we are more determined than ever. Let them see we will not take an arbitrary number and let them know that they need to bargain with CANSA at our table, not the remaining unions. The contributions of the CANSA membership are important to Nav Canada’s future and you need to be properly compensated.
We are currently waiting for the Maintenance of Activities Agreement (MOAA) to be completed by the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB). Once this is complete, there will be no more delays to the process, and we will be able exercise the option to withdraw services. This may be necessary to assist us in getting you the best possible collective agreement, so it is important that everyone to stay focused on what our goals are moving forward.
Thank you for your resilience and support over the last year as we move forward bargaining this collective agreement. A special thanks to the Bargaining Team for all their hard work over the last year trying to secure you the best possible deal. Your hard work on behalf of your members has not gone unnoticed.
I encourage everyone to continue with Black T-Shirt Thursday. Everyone in Nav Canada is welcome to join the CANSA membership in letting Nav Canada know we are One Company and should all be treated the same no matter what union you are in.
Please reach out to your Regional Vice President for additional information or questions.
Thank you for your support, continued patience, and solidarity.
In Solidarity,
James Walker
